Well...

It's been awhile, and a great deal of stuff has occurred between the last time you read my fingertip diarohea. Let's run through some highlights, shall we ? :)

I've spent the past week and a bit in a radiotherapy outpatients clinic. As this is my first real introduction into outpatient nursing (i'm used to inpatient), it has been rather "enlightening". combine with this that it is also my first real foray into the world of oncology (thats cancer for you people who dont understand doctor), and that too is even more interesting. You get to see some great things, and also some sad things. Last week i saw a man with a skin cancer on his head that was almost the size of my fist, i saw a guy with one on his neck that was TWICE the size of my fist. I saw a guy today with no nose. I guess that was the highlight so far. It looked freaky, and i couldnt stop looking, you know when you sneak those glances out of the corner of your eyes? But at the same time i tried to controll myself, cause the poor guy must get it all the time. Next week i change hospitals and go to a maternity ward. I will update you on the baby emissions as they happen!!! ;)

In other news, my folks and sister have finally left for canada. So i wont be seeing any of them for at least a year, leaving me well and truly alone. So, if you count yourself among my friends, be prepared to become family for a time.

Finally, flatmate woes. In a string of disgusting incidents, my house has been getting filthier and filthier. Things like cooking in a frypan and leaving the dirty, egg-residued pan, half filled with water, sitting on the switched off stove top. Or leaving batteries in the bath. I cant understand how people can live like that. Anyway, on monday i cracked the shits, and spent a good 4 hours cleaning the kitchen, bathroom and dunny. I was going to do more but by the time i was finished i was so demoralised i couldnt be stuffed. Included in this, i moved all the dirty dishes, which had been slowly piling up on the limited bench space in the kitchen, onto the dining room table. After all, i cook my food in there, and i dont need it smelling of vomit. Yes, vomit. I'm not entirely sure why they do, and i dont want to know. Needless to say, not 2 hours after i was finished cleaning the kitchen, there were dirty dishes in the sink again. Grrr. Then, to add insult to injury, i get up this morning in order to discover that my toaster (the really expensive one i got from my folks) is apparently broken. I have yet to test this. And, for my finale, when i got home from the clinic today, and made dinner, and went to sit down on my nice couch, i fell into it a lot deeper than usual. Upon investigating, i discovered that the mattress (it's a sofa bed), which is used as a supporting structure by the couch for sitting on, has dissapeared. I'm assuming it's in the downstairs guy's room. I left him a scathing note and left to come up to the library. I'm about to go home and he best hope it's there or he's going to lose some non-vital yet useful body parts.

Never piss off someone with a knowledge of anatomy.

On that note i leave you. I still come to sydney every weekend, for this and that. If you want to catch up, you know where to find me.

The Madness Begins...

So, I've not even finished my first week at uni for the year, and i'm already exhausted. So badly infact, that i was in bed by 10pm last night. Disgusting.

I attended my classes on monday, nothing special, alot of the same people from my classes last year, some new faces. Monday night the boys i live with decided to have a barbeque, so there was a bunch of people i didnt know hanging around in my backyard. tops. I decided to take it easy, and drink only a 6pack. And then i decided to finish my jamesons. And then i decided to hook into the black douglas. i think some other people did too, because there's a fair amount gone, yet i was quite ok on tuesday morning.

Tuesday, i fartarsed around for awhile before deciding to clean the kitchen. I discovered a liquefied pumpkin in the pantry (who puts vegetables in the cupboard, seriously), which was probably the highlight of the disgustingness. I also cleaned the oven and removed a bag of garbage sitting on top of the oven in which i was able to see maggots. evil. I have vowed and declared that i won't live in filth again, but i can see that this is going to result in me doing alot of cleaning. So be it.

Wednesday, i came to uni at 8am to find information on a small assignment i had to complete by tute at 1pm. After much hassles finding the relevant info, and alot of reading and a little writings, i finished it. At this time i got to class to discover i didnt have to do it at all. joy. This class however is awesomely cool...my first tute was a scenario in which there has been a bus bomb explode outside a cafe in a small town and we have to triage and transport the victims to hospital. Fucking cool. I had the brainwave idea of moving some of the not critically injured peoples first, while the criticals were being stablilised, thus getting everyone to hospital faster. I win. I then discovered that i didnt have to do the summary for the next class untill friday, which was great, considering i hadnt started it (and still havent to this moment, it's on the todo list). I finished classes and finally worked out my timetable for the semester, which has me doing 3 weeks of class, 10 weeks of other stuff (including holidays), then 4 more weeks of class. when it was all laid out like that, it didnt seem anywhere near as daunting, yet somehow i still feel overwhelmed at the moment. But i got some good advice, and i'll eat my elephant slowly.

Today i have so far attended 3 lectures out of four. The first lecture was supposed to go for 2 hours, and it went for an hour and a half, which gave me a 1.5 hour break till the next lecture, which went for an hour. Then another hour break, then another supposed 2 hour lecture, which only went for 45 mins including the 15 minutes of standing around trying to find a room because ours was taken. Since then i have been reading el-jay's and other sundry forum crap and downloading info i can read tonight to turn into another 500 word summary. Yay.

If you are still reading by now, thanks for waiting around this long for something exciting to happen. I'm sorry it didnt. Keep checking back in future, there will surely be some cool things posted, especially once i hit the wards again.
